The Swim Ulster Schools Cup & Championships 2019 took place this weekend on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th October 2019 at Aurora Aquatic & Leisure Complex Bangor.  Over 1400 swimmers from 279 schools from all over Ulster took part in the two day event.  Five Cambridge House students represented the school at this event which is the only pathway through which swimmers can qualify for the Irish Minor swimmers from  Schools Gala 9th February 2020 and the Irish Senior Interprovincial Gala 19th April 2020.
Aimee Russell Year 10 was the first student to take to the swim blocks for CHGS in the 100m Back stroke event on Sunday 13th October. She swam an incredibly strong race achieving not only a personal best but a place in the finals coming 3rd out of 104 swimmers in this event alone! Her medal was presented by four time Paralympic gold medallist Bethany Firth!  Aimee continued dominating the finalist drive to the finals of 100 free with another personal best placing 5th out of 175 swimmers competing and 11th in the gruelling 400m Freestyle Event that followed after the relays.  Congratulations to Aimee!

Emily Hill Year 9 swam the 100m Fly with ease and style finishing 14th in 12-14 age category, Competition was strong in the challenging 200IM event Emily swam hard and fast with a well deserved personal best finishing a remarkable 32nd overall.

The afternoon session welcomed Jana Greer Year 11, Matthew Evans Year 11 and Jessica Wainwright Year 13 to the starting blocks.

Jana Greer Year 11 & Jessica Wainwright Year 13 both performed fantastically in the Senior Girls 100m free and 200IM events. Jessica finished an incredible 11th in her 200IM and 25th in her 100m free topped with a personal best in each and Jana swam a remarkable 1:13.64 in her 100m freestyle and 26th in her 200IM event.

Matthew Evans Year 11 earned two fabulous personal bests in both his events against tough competition finishing 15th out of 65 swimmers narrowly missing out on a sub minute in the 100m freestyle! His 200IM race time saw a 5 second drop from his personal best showing his continued hard work and commitment at training was paying off finishing in an outstanding 12th overall!
