Abi Sweetlove currently plays for Ballymena United Youth Academy in the U12 National League Squad. She is the only girl in the academy which has 300+ boys in it, however, Abi safely secures her place on the team every week. She has played with the boys for the past six years and has worked hard to be accepted as one of the lads playing in many matches and tournaments over the years.

Abi has been a part of the team who have won the National League, NIBFA Plate Final, South Belfast Youth League and the Harry Gregg League to name a few. The most recent acollate for Abi, was being names as Player of the Tournament at the Colin Valley Tournament a few weeks ago.

As well as winning awards she secured her place in the NI Girls’ Excellence Squad and that was followed swiftly by a place in the NI 2006 elite squad. Abi is hoping to secure a place in the upcoming Foyle Cup Tournament competing in the boys section. Abi also plays for Ballymena United Allstars and has competed in the last three Foyle Cups in the girls’ section.

Abi was given the opportunity to captain the NI squad two weeks ago in Dublin, against a very strong Ireland team. She also travelled to Manchester City academy with the NI squad a month ago which is an experience she will never forget.

Well done Abi!
