Mrs Drewitt 21st November 2016

There was major disappointment for the 1st X1 on Saturday 19 November when they met Grosvenor Grammar School, Belfast in the semi-final of the Super League (Tier B) at the Valley Leisure Centre. The team put in a huge effort and it seemed that the match was going to end in a 1-1 draw, but with only a couple of minutes to go, Cambridge House conceded a penalty corner and the opposition scored. Final score 2-1.

The team had to put this defeat behind them quickly as they faced Kilkeel High School in the first round of the Belfast Telegraph Senior Schools Cup at Ballymena Showgrounds on Wednesday 23 November. The home team dominated for most of the match with Emily Anderson, Sara Galloway and the Carey sisters playing key roles. There were numerous opportunities from penalty corners but the girls just couldn’t seem to get the ball past the keeper. Finally, the ball ended up in the back of the goal, thanks to Lois Carey - much to the relief and delight of the team, coaches and the ever-faithful group of Mums, supporting on the side lines. Final score 1-0, earning the team a place in the 2nd round against Dalriada School.
