Scripture Union Weekend

I have had the pleasure to attend three Scripture Union residential weekends to Woodhall, Kilrea which I really look forward to every year as the four teachers: Mrs. Bradley, Dr. Snowden, Miss. Martin and Mr. Shannon, and all the girls and boys bond greatly together and we enjoy all aspects of the weekend.

We met at Woodhall Residential Centre on Friday evening, we picked our dorms and unpacked our belongings, getting ready for a fun filled weekend.  Over the weekend our speakers, Rachel Sheppard and Joel Hutchinson from SU, talked to us about Peter and how he relates to our everyday life with God.  I enjoyed these talks as they were fun and they taught me how to become a better follower of God.  We had these talks on all three of the days that we were there together.

In our ‘free time’ we played outside together playing ‘Sardines’, ‘Catches’ and the boys played football with ‘the big boy’, Mr. Shannon.  Inside we played group activities, ‘Empire’, quizzes, we sing songs and other group games.  I enjoyed these games as they are fun and it is a good way to make new friends from different age groups.  On Saturday afternoon we had a choice of water sports or high ropes.  Over the three years I have experienced both, I do not have a favourite, they are both excellent activities. On Saturday evening, we were all exhausted after our adventures but we found the energy for a walk into Kilrea for an ice-cream and bought sweets to eat during our evening movie.

I love the Scripture Union weekend as the food served at Woodhall is scrumptious and they are meals which everyone enjoys.  The four teachers are so compassionate and are like our friends, not our teachers.  I would recommend to anyone to go on the Scripture Union weekend as you get to have so much fun, make many new friends, you never want to go home.
