Survival Cookery Club The Survival Cookery Club is open to all Year 14 pupils and teaches basic planning, preparation and cooking skills to assist them when they go to university. Pupils will receive tips on cheaper cooking, food safety, and basic cooking advice. The club runs during the autumn and spring terms with each session lasting 4 weeks. During each session pupils will prepare recipes including cottage pie, vegetable curry, sweet and sour chicken and something sweet. A session of the Survival Cookery Club is £10 to cover the cost of the ingredients and pupils are given their own copy of ‘A Survival Guide to Food’ which has been produced by the Food Standards Agency. The Survival Guide has healthy, easy to follow recipes and includes useful information on making healthy food choices, shopping and budgeting tips as well as good food hygiene information.
