Study Skills

Cambridge House Grammar School reviewed the Study Skills provision six years ago and this programme was delivered by the Principal supported by a Senior Teacher.  The Programme is delivered to all Year Groups and is continually being improved and modernized.

With the recent appointment of a Temporary Senior Teacher for Achievement, Mrs O’Kane, the Study Skills Programme has again been reviewed and a range of new strategies have been added and developed. The programme is delivered through interactive workshop powerpoint presentations, Study Skills leaflets, presentations on selected Parent Information Evenings, a newly introduced Leadership News Sheet: Study Skills and assembly presentations throughout the year.

There are a number of key skills and strategies involved in ensuring that learning is personalized for each student, that learning styles are developed, that skill building is enhanced and that students develop into independent learners. The Student Study Planner (Homework Diary) also contains excellent Study Skills sections and the new Traffic Lights active learning strategy.

A Study Skills Poster is displayed on all Form Class Noticeboards highlighting key aspects of learning. Cambridge House Grammar School staff also receive annual Study Skills in-service training and ongoing training in key aspects during the year
