| | May I offer you a warm welcome to Cambridge House Grammar School and share with you our ethos and our vision for the future. Cambridge House Grammar School is a highly prestigious, controlled co-educational Grammar School, which enjoys high levels of commitment from students, staff, governors, parents and friends of the school. We are situated on an excellent, expansive site at the corner of Galgorm Road and Cambridge Avenue. Our buildings are contemporary and refurbishment is ongoing with recent improvements in Science, Technology, Home Economics and other areas of the school’s estate. We offer a school with highly qualified staff, a full ranging curriculum for all year groups, and an extensive extra curricular programme with a firm, fair and supportive pastoral care system and positive behaviour framework. Our school has been commended, within our Investors in People reports 2005 and 2009, as a school which is friendly, caring, happy, inclusive, student-centred, positive, forward thinking, versatile with high expectations for all. | The school had a very successful Standard Inspection Report, published in March 2009, which commended the school and aided our journey towards self improvement. Our aim is to nurture the academic and personal development of every student in our care, to promote the pursuit of excellence and achievement by each student, to develop abilities and skills to maximise potential, to develop a range of values in all our students and to prepare them for lifelong learning within a global context. We recognise and support diversity and difference within our own school family and as part of our Area Planning Initiative: Ballymena Learning Together. This is achieved through curriculum and extra curricular clusters and partnerships. Our school has a culture of confidence, building leadership capacity and raising self esteem. The new school was established in 2001 and the politics of our times mean that our school must embrace change within the current educational climate and respect the direction of travel outlined in The Burns Report, the Costello Report, the Bain Review, the Inclusion Agenda, Building Leadership Capacity, Together Towards Improvement, Every School a Good School and other educational initiatives. Our school has continually strengthened and evolved. Our students achieve local, provincial and national recognition in many curricular and extra curricular areas. Implicit in our school’s values is the belief that education must be student-centred and meet the academic, physical, moral, social and spiritual needs of our young people. We promote a very strong family ethos which is based on care, concern and respect for fellow students, staff, governors and parents. We promote high standards in all aspects of school life. We regard post primary education as one of the most important stages in the life of each student and we work to ensure that this is vibrant, challenging, enjoyable and stable. The school aims to foster the development of young learners’ talents and abilities and encourage the value of lifelong learning. The school aims to be a place of inspiration where young people aspire to reach high levels of attainment and self confidence. Recent initiatives include Sharing Education Partnership (QUB) 2010, International School Award 2010 (Foundation), Building Leadership Capacity 2008-2010, RTU Lesson Study 2009-2011, Coaching and Mentoring 2008-2010, European Foundation for Quality Management Gold Award 2010-2011, as well as being an RTU Leadership Development Partner School. We look forward to welcoming your son or daughter into our school family and to sharing the precious privilege of nurturing and caring for your child during their time with us. It is an honour to lead such a dynamic school at a time of immense educational opportunity and I look forward to forming and sustaining positive partnerships in the coming years. Each child is unique with their own skills, talents, capabilities and ambitions. We hope we can be a part of creating their future – together.
