The English Department (with English Literature)

The English Department at Cambridge House Grammar School prides itself on being passionate about the subject and the desire to share this passion with the pupils. As well as offering a wide range of extra-curricular activities, we also follow the Northern Ireland Curriculum across the Key Stages.
At Key Stage 4 we offer AQA English, English Literature and English Language. Pupils at Key Stage 4 can also opt to study GCSE Media Studies or GCSE Journalism along with English.

At AS and A level, pupils follow the CCEA specification.

We have a vibrant range of extra-curricular activities on offer across the English Department. All pupils have the opportunity to take part in our annual Poetry Competition. We also have our own Debating Society as well as our annual Scholastic Book Fair.  Cambridge House Grammar School is also one of the largest fund raisers for the annual Readathon initiative.

We are always keen to bring literature to life and this can be done through allowing pupils and staff to meet authors such as Theresa Breslin shown here reading from her novel Divided Society.  The English Department works alongside the Drama and Media Departments to provide pupils with a combined creative experience.
